On Friday, June 3rd around 3pm the Cortland County Sheriff’s department responded to Lighthouse Hill Rd and Route 13 in Cortlandville for a report of a shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Officer’s began their investigation and determined that 5 juveniles were operating a vehicle on Main Street in the Village of Homer. When that vehicle was turning onto a side street one of the occupants of the vehicle shot at another vehicle with a pellet gun that caused damage to the other vehicle.
The vehicle struck by the gun was waiting at a stop sign to turn on Main Street in the village, the victim then immediately followed the suspects vehicle to Lighthouse Hill Rd in Cortlandville.
Occupants in the vehicle then began to shoot at the victim again striking the windshield which resulted in damage. None of the passengers in the victim’s vehicle were injured.
On Thursday, June 16th, the Cortland County Sheriff’s department made an arrest of 5 juveniles with ages ranging from 16 to 17 years old following a shooting incident that took place on June 3rd.
All five were charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree, a felony, Criminal Possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, Menacing in the 2nd degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd degree, and Conspiracy in the 5th degree, all misdemeanors.
The juveniles were all released on appearance tickets to appear in Cortland County Court – Youth Part.
