Local law enforcement will increase patrols to a new 3-way stop on Bennie Road in Cortlandville.
Signs were recently installed at the intersection with Walden Oaks Boulevard, after years of lobbying by neighbors.
County Sheriff Mark Helms says officers have gotten numerous complaints of vehicles continuing to roll through the intersection without stopping.
“Obviously, this can cause a potentially dangerous situation if one or more vehicles fails to obey the law and stop when required,” said Helms. “Safety is our number one concern, so please do your part and obey the law.”
Police are now monitoring the area more frequently to ensure motorists enter the intersection safely.
