Sheriff – Freetown Man Charged With Assault, Menacing, Obstruction of Breathing

Officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded for a welfare check around 7:30 in the evening on Thursday, February 27th, on Maricle Road in Freetown. An investigation found 23 year old Christopher J. Fox of Freetown, had engaged in a physical domestic with a victim earlier that day, the Sheriff’s Office says.

The Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Fox’s arrest. He was found and taken into custody the following afternoon, February 28th. Fox was charged with Aggravated Family Offense, a Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th, Assault in the 3rd, Menacing in the 3rd, and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, all Misdemeanors.

Fox was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and was arraigned via the Centralized Arraignment Process. He was remanded to Cortland County Jail on $1,000 cash bail. Fox is due in Freetown Town Court later this month.
