Early Friday morning around 5:45 am, January 20th, an officer from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area near Route 13 and Lighthouse Hill Road when the officer found a vehicle stopped in traffic with the driver unconscious.
Through an investigation conducted by officers found the driver, 56 year old Jerry A. Crandall of Smyra to be drunk. Crandall was arrested by officers and charged with DWI, Stopping/Parking on Highway, Consumption of Alcoholic Beverage/Possession of an Open Container, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Crandall was taken to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Offices where he was processed and then released on his own recognizance with appearance tickets. He is due to reappear in Town of Cortlandville Court next month.
