Sheriff Arrest Virgil Woman Following Domestic Call on Webb Road

Last Wednesday afternoon, officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Webb Road in Virgil for a reported domestic. The Sheriff’s Office says during their investigation of the domestic, officers learned 28 year old Rebecca S. Mathewson of Virgil, became physical during an altercation with an adult male.

The Sheriff’s Office says the physical altercation with the male was also in the presence of their children. Officers also found that during the middle of the altercation, Mathewson had also damaged property belonging to the victim.

Officers arrested and charged Mathewson with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd, a Felony, 2 Counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Misdemeanor, and Harassment in the 2nd, a Violation. She was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing and was later arraigned via the Centralized Arraignment Process. She was released on her own recognizance.

Mathewson is due in Virgil Town Court later this month.
