Two people were arrested after a traffic stop was conducted by officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, June 10th, around 11:50 pm on Saunders Road in Cortlandville.
The traffic stop was conducted due to traffic violations that were observed by the officers. During the investigation with the driver of the vehicle, identified as 34 year old Kimberly A. Wehner of Cortland. Officers determined that she was operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs.
A search conducted by officers also found her to be in possession of drugs. She was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving while Impaired by Drugs, both Misdemeanors, and multiple traffic infractions.
As the investigation continued, the passenger of the vehicle, 25 year old Bennie A. Stafford of Virgil, was in violation of an order of protection. He was charged with Criminal Contempt in the 2nd, a Misdemeanor.
Both were arrested and transported to the Public Safety Building for processing. Wehner was issued appearance tickets for her charges and Stafford was arraigned through CAP and later released on his own recognizance.
They are due in Cortlandville Town Court at a later date.
