Thefts at Wal-Mart are reportedly on the rise as the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department have made additional arrests on reported larcenies at the store on Bennie Rd.
On October 14th, around 10:30pm the Sheriff’s Department responded to Walmart for a reported larceny by the store. Through an investigation it was determined that 42 year old Dodie M. Baranska of Cortland, stole various merchandise from the store. She was arrested and charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. She was then transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office where she was processed and then released with an appearance ticket.
On October 15th, the Sheriff’s Department responded to Walmart for a reported larceny and found that 18 year old Megan N. Boyce of Richford, NY, stole from the store. She was arrested by officer’s and charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. She was taken to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Officer where she was processed and then released on an appearance ticket.
On Early Sunday morning around 1:20am, October 16th, a traffic stop was conducted by a Cortland County Sheriff’s officer on Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville. While conducting the traffic stop, the officer found 39 year old Derek T. Bacon of Syracuse NY, was operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Bacon was arrested and transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, speed in zone, and failing to keep right, both infractions. He was later released on his own recognizance.
