A Preble woman has been arrested by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office following a joint investigation between their agency and the Cortland County Department of Social Services (DSS). Officers arrested 29 year old Delria Johnson of Preble on the charges of 2 Counts Offering a False Instrument for Filing, a Felony, Welfare Fraud, and Petit Larceny, both Misdemeanors. She was arrested on Wednesday, June 25th.
The investigation began when the Sheriff’s Office received a report that between September 1st and December 31st of last year, Johnson had submitted fraudulent documents to DSS relating to her household income and composition. Due to the fraudulent paperwork, she received benefits she was not entitled to in excess of $470.
