Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office have made an arrest after the office received a report of sex abuse allegations that occurred on Wednesday, August 9th 2023.
The incident occurred at an undisclosed location in the Town of Homer on the date mentioned above. Officers discovered during the investigation that 37 year old Spencer P. Burns of Cortland, had subjected the victim to inappropriate sexual contact. The victim knew Burns.
Officers arrested Burns on August 12th and charged him with Criminal Sexual Act in the 1st, a Felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Misdemeanor. He was arraigned through the centralized arraignment process and released on his own recognizance.
He is due in Town of Homer Court today.
