Sheriff Arrest Cortlandville Man For Drug Possession After Being Named as a Suspect in a Stolen Bike Case

A little past 8 in the evening on May the 4th, officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Grand Union off of Route 281 in Cortlandville for a report of a stolen bicycle. An investigation by the Sheriff’s Office determined a possible suspect in the theft was 52 year old Carl R. Sherman of Cortlandville.


Officers were able to locate Sherman, who was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The Sheriff’s Office says he was not in possession of the stolen bicycle.

Sherman was arrested for the possession and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, a Misdemeanor. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and later released on an appearance ticket. Sherman is due in Cortlandville Town Court later this month.

The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation into the stolen bicycle remains ongoing.
