Sheriff Arrest Cortlandville Man After House Break-In

On Sunday, December 4th, the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in the Town of Cortlandville for a reported burglary.

Through an investigation by the officer’s, it was found that 37 year old Michael A. Grossi of Cortlandville, unlawfully entered the residence where he then damaged numerous items inside the house and stole property from the residence before leaving the scene.

Later on that same day, officers from the Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop that Grossi was operating. During the stop, officers found that the passenger inside the vehicle with Grossi had a full stay away order from Grossi himself. Grossi was also in possession of some of the stolen property from the burglary investigation that took place earlier in the day.

Officers were able to recover more stolen property from a garage at a residence in the Town of Cortlandville.

Grossi was arrested and charged with Burglary in the 2nd, Grand Larceny in the 4th, Criminal Mischief in the 3rd, all Felonies, and Criminal Contempt in the 2nd, a Misdemeanor.

He was taken to the Sheriff’s Officer for processing and was later arraigned at CAP and remanded to Cortland County Jail on $500 cash bail, $1,000 bail bond, or $5,000 partially secured bond with 10% down. He is expected in Cortlandville Court at a later date.
