Sheriff Arrest Cortland Man for Speeding, and Driving Drunk in Cortlandville

Early Saturday morning, March 18th, around 2 in the morning, a traffic stop was conducted by officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for a vehicle speeding on Pendleton Street in the Town of Cortlandville.




Through an investigation conducted by the officer, it was determined the operator of the vehicle, 22 year old Brandon T. Gavitt was drunk. Gavitt was arrested by officers and charged with Driving while Intoxicated, Driving with .08% of 1% alcohol, both Misdemeanors, Speed in Zone, Inadequate Muffler, and Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, all Infractions.

He was then transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and released on his own recognizance with appearance tickets. Gavitt is due back in Town of Cortlandville Court next month.
