State Senator James Seward announced today that both he and his wife Cindy have tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The retiring 17th-term senator confirmed the news this afternoon, after being tested at Albany Medical Center where he continues to receive treatment.
According to Seward, he was diagnosed with a mild case of the virus and is expected to be released from the hospital shortly and make a full recovery.
At that point, he’ll join his wife Cindy, who’s already home in quarantine after being tested at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. She’s also reported to have a mild case of the virus.
Seward’s office in Oneonta will remain closed, but constituents who need assistance can email email@example.com or call 518-455-3131.
He closed by urging everyone to follow the CDC guidelines and to check the New York State Department of Health website for updates.
