Due to the dry conditions and growing size, mutual aid was requested from neighboring departments. Virgil, Marathon, McGraw, and Homer Fire Departments were all dispatched to the scene. Cortlandville Fire says it took approximately 2 hours to contain the fire, which had grown to 5 acres.

Firefighters used shovels and rakes to work in clearing vegetation to ensure fire and hot spots were extinguished. National Grid provided assistance in disconnecting power to the live wire.

No injuries were reported, Cortlandville Fire said. National Grid worked for several hours working to restore power in the area of Route 11 between Blodgett Mills and Route 392.
