
Several Cortland County agencies awarded state & federal funding
Local News February 22, 2021Several Cortland County agencies were awarded state and federal funding on Friday (February 19).
U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced over $245M to combat homelessness across New York State.
That included $149K for Catholic Charities of Cortland County’s “Shelter Plus Care” program.

Governor Cuomo released over $37.2M in grants for highway safety programs in the state.
Around $50k was allocated to the Cortland County Health Department to support two separate initiatives:
- Child Passenger Safety Program $11,800.00
- Injury Prevention and Traffic Safety Program $36,951.00
The Cortland Cortland County Sheriff’s Office also received more than $1k for a Child Passenger Safety Program and $10k for Police Traffic Service.
Village of Homer Police were awarded $5k for Police Traffic Service.
