Seven Valleys Health Coalition to Host Annual Cortland Counts Community Forum
The Seven Valleys Health Coalition (SVHC) says they will once again host the Cortland Counts Community Forum on Friday, March 21st at SUNY Cortland’s Corey Union function room from 9am to 3pm.
SVHC says the forum will showcase a slate of presenters, local agencies, organizations and community members who will discuss the priority areas of the NYS 2025-30 Prevention Agenda. You can find the agenda by clicking HERE.
Speaking during the event will include Trish Hiemstra, Director of the Cortland County Planning Department, Melissa Porter, Cortland County Mobility Manager, Alex Mikowski, Executive Director for Access to Independence of Cortland County. Additional speakers will be present during the forum.
“The NYS 2025-30 Prevention Agenda is an initiative of the NYS Department of Health, a six-year plan to improve the health of New Yorkers and reduce health disparities. The health priority areas of this plan are grouped into five domains: Economic stability, Social and Community Context, Neighborhood and Built Environment, Health Care Access and Quality, and Education Access and Quality.”
According to a release from SVHC.
In addition to hosting speakers during the forum, it will also include a gathering of community agencies tabling the event displaying their available services/wares.
Seven Valleys Executive Director Jackie Cooper stated, “The Cortland Counts Community Forum is an annual event that began in 2001, paused during the pandemic and resumed in 2024. It continues to be a popular event because it is an opportunity for community members to learn what is going on in different sectors of the community; areas we may not be in touch with on a regular basis, and the dialogue from the forum has resulted in successful collaborations over the years.”
Those interested in attending are asked to register online HERE. SVHC says lunch and a light snack will be provided.
