May is national Stroke Awareness month and the Seven Valleys Health Coalition wants to remind all that a stroke can happen to anyone at any age. 80% of all strokes are preventable.

Each minute during a stroke nearly 2 million brain cells will die. Quick access to medical treatment can make the difference between a full recovery and permanent disability.

An easy way to know the signs of a stroke is to remember the phrase F.A.S.T.

F, Does one side of the FACE droop?
A, Does the ARM drift downward?
S, Does the SPEECH sound slurred or strained?
T, There’s not a lot of TIME to Call 911.

If you see the signs of a stroke immediately dial 911.
