Senator Webb – Over 2,000 Valentine’s Cards Delivered to Nursing Homes and Senior Centers Within 52nd District

New York State Senator Lea Webb (SD-52) says this year’s Valentine’s Day Cards initiative delivered over 2,000 handmade cards to nursing homes and senior centers within the 52nd Senate District. Cards were made by students in schools throughout Cortland, Tompkins, and Broome Counties as part of the card drive, Webb says.

“A simple gesture, like a handmade Valentine, can bring joy, connection, and a sense of belonging,” said Senator Lea Webb. “This initiative is about letting our seniors know they are valued, remembered, and surrounded by a caring community. I’m deeply grateful to the students, educators, families, and community organizations who shared their creativity and kindness to make this third annual drive such a success.”

According to Webb, over 30 schools and community organizations participated in this year’s drive, which ensured a hand-made Valentine card reached residents of nursing homes.

A donation from GLOW Guide of 10 GLOW Guide products was also delivered to residents of the Elizabeth Brewster House in Homer. Webb says those products help guide the way for seniors to see clearly at night with canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.

“The Valentines for Seniors drive is a wonderful way for our youth to give back and connect with the generations who helped build our community.” Said Andrea Piedigrossi, Director of the City of Cortland Youth Bureau. “A simple card or message can truly brighten a senior’s day, and for our young people, it’s a meaningful reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.”
