Tompkins Cortland Community College is holding a special ribbon cutting ceremony next week to celebrate the grand opening of the new Arthur Kuckes Childcare Center.
The invitation-only ceremony will include attendees such as Senator James Seward, Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton, and the Kuckes family themselves.
A lead gift from Kuckes and his wife Martha Wright got the $6.5 million project off the ground, helped along by a $1 million in state grants secured by Seward and Lifton.
They’ll join TC3 President Orinthia Montague for the official grand opening of the facility, which comes after more than a year of construction and three and a half years of planning.
Also in attendance will be President Emeritus Carl Haynes, Childcare Center Director Casey Goodwin, TC3 student-parent Heather Dries, who uses the childcare center, and Ray Schlather, Chair of TC3’s Board of Trustees.
The event will close with tours of the facility, located just steps from the main entrance to the College, which triples the size of the previous childcare center and expands the service capacity from 30 kids to 80.
