Sen. Gillibrand Proposes Legislation to Speed Up Certain FDA Drug Approvals

Bipartisan legislation recently announced by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand would speed up provisional FDA approval of drugs to treat life-threatening ailments.



That includes ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other significant illnesses. Oftentimes these drugs take years to be approved for the market, but Gillibrand’s “Promising Pathway Act” would accelerate the process so these medicines could reach those who need them in a faster time frame.

Senator Gillibrand says, “Patients with life-threatening illnesses can’t wait years for the FDA to approve new drugs, they need treatment as soon as possible and this bill would help ensure they get it”.
