Around 8:30 Friday evening, a call came into 9-1-1 dispatch of an active structure fire at a residence located at 3282 State Route 26 in the Town of Taylor.
Fire Departments from Cincinnatus, Willet, McGraw, and Cortlandville were initially dispatched to the scene of the fire. Upon arrival, firefighters reported the second floor of the residence on fire with the fire spreading to the attic area and roof. Everyone inside the building was able to evacuate safely.
A second alarm was called by Cincinnatus Fire to bring in additional manpower and equipment to battle the blaze. Additional departments from Truxton, Cuyler, and Marathon responded to the scene. Cortlandville’s tower truck was also requested, but later canceled.
Firefighters were able to knock the fire out about an hour after the initial call. The red cross is currently assisting the family of the residence and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
