Scott Man Facing Criminal Contempt Charge

A Town of Scott man is facing a criminal contempt charge after officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported domestic incident in the Town of Cortlandville. Officers responded just before 9:30 in the morning on Monday, April 7th to an undisclosed address in Cortlandville for the incident and a possible violation of an order of protection.

An investigation into the incident by officers led to the arrest of 36 year old Jason A. Hopkins of Scott. The Sheriff’s Office says Hopkins had contacted the protected party and was in violation of the active order of protection. He was arrested and charged with Criminal Contempt in the 2nd, a Misdemeanor.

Hopkins was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and later arraigned via the Centralized Arraignment Process and released on his own recognizance. He is due in Cortlandville Town Court next week.
