Schreffler of JM Murray Named Recipient of 2025 NYS Industries For The Disabled Outstanding Performer Award

JM Murray has announced Richard M. Schreffler has been named the recipient of this year’s New York State Industries for the Disabled “Outstanding Performer Award.” Schreffler was one of 53 recognized throughout the state. JM Murray says his recognition highlights the impact of meaningful employment and support for people with disabilities.

Richard Schreffler joined JM Murray in 2018 and has overcome lifelong challenges, including both a learning disability and physical limitations. He has been able to build a career by reliability, pride, and independence.

“At JM Murray, I’m not judged or punished for how I work—I’m supported for who I am,” Richard says. “I have my own space, my own car, and the freedom to live life on my terms.”

JM Murray says Richard has credited the organization for their supportive workplace for enabling him to thrive both on the job and in life. JM Murray, established in 1966, empowers individuals with disabilities in Cortland and Central New York through person-centered services, meaningful employment opportunities, and community integration, while also providing contracted manufacturing solutions for public and private organizations.
