School Year Begins For Majority of Districts – Homer Schools Has New Arrival/Dismissal Times

School is now open for Cincinnatus, Cortland, Homer, McGraw, and Marathon School Districts. Motorists are reminded to stop and yield to pedestrians at crossings and crosswalks, stop for stopped school buses, obey crossing guards, and use extra caution when driving for school children.

This year will show changes at the Homer Central School District. The district announced this past Spring a chance for school start and end times. Homer Schools says the changes are to better coordinate drop off and pick up of students. It will also increase the instructional time for students Pre K to 12th grade. Times may be found below.

Homer Elementary School – School day 8:45a to 3:20p

Arrival:
-8:30a for students with breakfast
-8:45a for other walkers

Drop off will be the same as in previous years with walkers entering through the main entrance. Students will be considered late after 9am

Dismissal:
-3:10p Car pickup at the school’s main parking lot through Central Park Place
-3:20p walkers will be released
-3:40p Central Park Place closed to traffic for buses
-3:50p Bussers released from school

Homer school says walker pickup will no longer be in front of the school. All students will be released from the rear of the building.

Homer Intermediate School – School day 8:45a to 3:45p

Arrival:
-8:30a outside supervision
-8:45a students allowed inside building

Bus drop off area does not change.

Parent drop off area will be different. Homer Schools says between 8:45 and 9am, students will enter the building via door #8 by the auditorium. Students arriving after 9am will be considered later.

Dismissal:
-3:30p Cars may line up in parent drop off lane
-3:40p bussers are released

Homer Junior High School – School day 7:45a to 2:40p

Arrival:
-7:25a – students allowed inside building
-7:40a – students may go to their lockers
-7:45a – school day begins

Drop-off will take place in the new parent parking lot. The main parking lot and loop will be closed for student drop-off in the morning. Students arriving after 7:45a will be considered late.

Dismissal:
-2:40p – all students are dismissed for bus and pick-up. The main parking lot will again be closed during pick-up.

Homer High School – School day 7:50a to 2:48p

Arrival:
-7:30a – students may enter building

Dismissal:
-2:48p – students and bussers may leave. Buses will leave school by 2:50p

The High School upper lot will have new pavement for 2 lanes for drop-offs and pick-ups. Homer Schools asks you to pull all the way forward when dropping off students.
