Yesterday (November 15), the Village of Homer Police Department had received a complaint from an unknown male caller who claimed he was a police officer from the Federal Commission.

The scammer provided a false name with a fake badge number and then proceeded to claim that a warrant was issued for the resident’s arrest. The scammer then requested the resident to withdraw funds from their bank account and also asked for them to provide their social security number.

The Homer Police warn this type of call is a SCAM and to just hang up and then block the phone number.

The Federal Trade Commission and any other law enforcement will never ask someone to withdraw from their bank account or ask for pedigree information.
