Sales Tax Revenues Passes $35 Million in Cortland County For Year


Sales Tax revenue is up 2% in Cortland County when compared to this time last year, according to a release by the New York State Comptroller’s Office. The County sales tax revenues totaled $35.60 million dollars (January-November), compared to $34.88 million last year.

Overall, state sales tax revenue was up 5.1% with total local collections of $1.81 billion dollars, a $88.6 million increase.

“Local sales tax collections continued to grow in November,” NY Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said. “Consumers across the state increased their spending heading into the holiday season, with all regions seeing year-over-year increases for the month.”

For the month of November alone, Cortland County took in $2.95 million dollars in sales tax collections, a 4.9% increase from last November.
