SafeTALK Suicide Prevntion Training Happening at Center 4 Arts – Free Event


A free, three hour training program designed to teach participants with both the knowledge and tools necessary to identify individuals who are at risk of suicide and be able to connect them with life-saving resources will be taking place on March 27th from 1pm to 4pm at the Center for the Arts in Homer.

The training program, titled SafeTALK, is presented by the Rural Health Institute and the New York State Office of Mental Health’s Suicide Prevention Center of New York. In a release, Cortland County says this training is part of an ongoing effort to equip caregivers, professionals, and community members with essential skills.

SafeTALK is open to anyone who is 15 years of age or older, regardless of prior experience.

“The SafeTALK training is a crucial step in suicide prevention efforts within our community,” said Kevin Fitch, Chair of the Cortland County Legislature. “By raising awareness and equipping individuals with the necessary skills, we can create a network of support and save lives.”
