Three people were injured at a construction site in the Tompkins County Town of Newfield Wednesday when two construction vehicles collided.
State Police say the crash happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday on Bower Road in Newfield. Town Highway crews were there working to replace a culvert that was washed out in the June storms and flooding.
Troopers say a large fork truck lost its engine and as a result, the driver lost control of the brakes or steering.
The forklift traveled down a hill and collided with a small dump truck. Both pieces of equipment were pushed into a hole where workers were putting in the new culvert pipe.
One of the unidentified workers sustained minor injuries the other two men received serious injuries. The two were airlifted to an area hospital the other was taken to the hospital via ambulance.
