River Flood Warning to Begin Friday Morning at Tioughnioga River

The National Weather Service has issued a River Flood Warning for the Tioughnioga River in the Cortland area, beginning Friday February 18th at 11am, ending on Sunday February 20th at 1am.

Minor flooding could occur and lead to possible road closures along Kellogg Road South of Cortland.

The Tioughnioga River is expected rise above the flood stage of 8 feet late Friday morning, cresting Friday evening at 8.7 feet, and then returning below the flood stage Saturday afternoon. This does not include effects from ice jams. As of 3pm Thursday February 17th, the river was reported to be at 3.4 feet.

Please take caution and avoid the area if possible. The National Weather Service asks that if flooding occurs, to contact local emergency services or law enforcement when it’s safe to do so. Information reported can then be passed along to the National Weather Service.
