Out today (January 20th) is Ringo Starr’s new track, titled, “Now The Time Has Come.” Back on September 21st, Ringo teamed up with the United Nations and released the video for the track in commemoration of International Day of Peace. Radio.com reported the song is now available to download in two versions — one by Ringo and friends and another with Ringo, friends, and Latin artist Fonseca.
“Now The Time Has Come” was written with Ringo’s collaborator, producer Bruce Sugar, and features lead vocals by Ringo, Mr. Mister’s Richard Page — an active member of Ringo’s All Starr Band along with former All Starr, Men At Work leader Colin Hay, and Billy Valentine.
Last fall, Ringo issued a statement about “Now The Time Has Come” saying, “I worked on this record with Peace & Love. . . It was a joy to be part of this project. Making this record was incredibly personal for me. Against the backdrop of war or social unrest, I always turned to music as a refuge. I hope this record can offer people solace and inspire them to do all they can to bring peace to their communities.”
Ringo Starr is a rare breed having nothing but love and respect for has past and excitement and pleasure from his work today: “Well, I think the shining hours keep coming. I do, I think they keep coming. You sell yourself short if you think that was the moment. I’ve had many great moments; I’ve enjoyed my life, I’ve been, y’know. . . the gift of being able to play and to still be able to play with musicians like I’ve got on stage today — it’s a blessing.
