The ribbon was cut at the new Byrne Dairy Gas & Convenience Store on Port Watson in the City of Cortland yesterday with Cortland Mayor Scott Steve holding the honors.
In attendance were members of the Brunelle family including Christian Brunelle, Senior VP at Byrne Dairy & Deli. Brunelle spoke of the importance of the new location and the emphasis on everything local by sponsoring local sports, helping school districts, and fire departments auxiliaries via donations.
This is Byrne Dairy & Deli 72nd location in the area and the expansion continues. Brunelle noted that the company has been looking for a number of years for a replacement location to the Groton Ave. location, which he says that store model of a small grocery store, has passed.
Expansion continues for the company, with ground broken for a new location in Whitney Point that is slated to open in the near future. For the possibility of another store in the Cortland area, Brunelle mentioned it is possible.
“We’ve looked at Cortlandville. We looked over towards our facility of course, that’s natural growth. We think that side of town is going to grow, we’re hoping it does… We’ve looked at some other sites in the city (Cortland), but I would say, yes, there’s definitely room for another store.” Christian Brunelle, Senior VP at Byrne Dairy & Deli said to X101 News.
The new store on Port Watson is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and from now until August 4th, Byrne Dairy members pay only $2.99 a gallon for gas.
