In a ceremony last evening at City of Cortland Fire Department Headquarters on Court Street the rank and file came out to support the swearing in of the New Deputy Chief Derek Reynolds.
Reynolds was sworn in by Fire Chief Waybe Friedman and City of Cortland Mayor Scott Steve at the 6:30 ceremony inside the fire station.
Reynolds’ promotion comes as the former Deputy Chief, Michael TenKate recently retired.
Reynold’s family was on hand as well as members of the city’s fire commission and his fellow firefighters.
Reynolds did speak on his new promotion giving thanks to the fire commission, the chief, captains and firefighters for all of their support.
