Request For Proposals Sent Out Again For Former Park School

During the City of Cortland Common Council meeting on Tuesday, the Common Council and Mayor continued their discussion on the future of the former Parker School in the City of Cortland.

It was noted that another Request For Proposals has been sent out for the redevelopment of the building. City of Cortland Mayor Scott Steve said there has been interest by organizations/developers for the building, but did not name specifics.

The City of Cortland has essentially revived the Parker School Committee. The task force will work together on gathering input from multiple organizations, City of Cortland Mayor Scott Steve said during the discussion. So far the committee has met twice and includes council members, local organizations, neighbors of Parker School, and developers.

“[The Task Force] also discussed the timeline, which we don’t want to rush either way. Whatever the time is necessary to come up with the information and the data is what we will move forward with.” Mayor Steve said.

Mayor Steve also noted the task force will discuss with the Cortland Enlarged City School District on what the district’s needs are now and in the future.

Discussion on the former Parker School will remain on the agenda Mayor Steve said, but no action will be taken unless there is a public hearing prior.
