Representative Josh Riley Co-Sponsors “You Earned It, Keep It Act”

Josh Riley, U.S. Representative of NY-19, has announced sponsoring a bill that aims to eliminate the federal taxes on Social Security benefits and provide financial relief to seniors.

The legislation, called the “You Earned It, You Keep It Act,” if placed into law would eliminate federal taxes on Social Security benefits beginning in 2026, fund tax breaks for seniors by adjusting the Social Security payroll tax cap, and strengthen the long-term solvency of the Social Security Program.

According to data published by the Social Security Administration, this would affect 188,352 Social Security beneficiaries in New York’s 19th Congressional District alone and 175,161 in the 22nd Congressional District.
