Report: Priscilla Presley Wants To Be Buried Next To Elvis At Graceland

Music News

Priscilla Presley reportedly wants to be buried next to her ex-husband, Elvis Presley, on the grounds of Graceland. Priscilla, who’s now 73, divorced Elvis in 1973 — four years before his death in 1977 — remains active with Elvis Presley Enterprises, of which her daughter Lisa Marie Presley remains a 15 percent owner. Priscilla served as a producer on last year’s critically acclaimed Elvis doc, The Searcher.

An inside source to, “Priscilla still thinks of herself as Elvis’ widow and her rightful resting place is next to him. She wants an elaborate funeral ceremony at Graceland. She wants to be surrounded by photos of her and Elvis in happier times and for his music to play as they lay her to rest.” Elvis is buried on the side of his Graceland mansion in Memphis. Also interned at the “meditation garden,” which is open to the public, are Elvis’ parents Vernon and Gladys, along with his paternal grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley. A plaque was placed at Graceland for Elvis’ stillborn twin Jesse Garon, who was buried in an unmarked grave in Tupelo, Mississippi .

The unnamed source added: “Priscilla feels that she played a defining role in Elvis’ life and that he was her only true love. “Even though they divorced four years before his death in 1977, she believes they shared a loving bond until the day he died — and beyond the grave. . . Priscilla beats herself up about (his death). She’s now saying that because she wasn’t there for Elvis at the end of his life, she wants to be by his side in the afterlife.”

The insider went on to shed light on Priscilla’s relationship with Lisa Marie, revealing, “They haven’t been getting along because of Lisa’s drug and divorce issues, but Priscilla believes talking about this will bring them all together — in life and in death.”

The report claims that Priscilla has been dealing with her mortality since undergoing surgery last summer for potential skin cancer on her face: “Priscilla has become a great deal more focused since the surgery. She wants to get her affairs in order and reestablish the family bonds she feels defined her. And that means showing the world that she and Elvis will carry an unbreakable bond for all eternity.”

Priscilla Presley was asked whether she believes that had he not died, Elvis would’ve been able to shed his demons: “No, I don’t. I think he would always have his demons. He had — even when he was younger. . . Elvis was a thinker, he was a searcher, he was alone. When you say demons, it’s like, his mother had demons, his father had demons. They were a close family, but there was always a little bit of sadness in them, in the whole family. Just a little bit.”
