Report: Angus Young Wants To Make AC/DC Album With Axl Rose

Music News

AC/DC guitarist Angus Young reportedly wants to make a new album with Axl Rose on lead vocals, according to a report from Australia’s Noise 11. The report, which comes on the heels of Young joining Guns N’ Roses onstage during that band’s two recent concerts in Melbourne and Sydney, stated, “The chemistry between Axl Rose and Angus Young has inspired Angus to start planning another AC/DC record,, but Guns N’ Roses’ touring commitments throughout 2017 will make it difficult to finalize the project.”

The report indicates that the earliest a new AC/DC studio album — the band’s 17th — would arrive is 2018.
A second report from Noise 11 said, “Axl Rose fronting AC/DC was controversial, and if you didn’t like that combination, you will be horrified to learn there is an album on the way.”

Rose took over as temporary frontman last spring after longtime AC/DC singer Brian Johnson was sidelined by the threat of total hearing loss. Rose played 23 concerts on the troubled Rock Or Bust tour, both in Europe and the U.S., with the shows meeting fan and critical acclaim.

Rose said at one point on the tour that the surprise collaboration had sparked some new musical ideas, explaining, “(Angus is) very responsive to me . . . In between songs, he’s playing other stuff (that has inspired potential new song ideas). So that’s kind of a neat thing between musicians.”

All the shows last year with Rose were recorded, so it’s likely that fans will get a live album out of the pairing at the very least.
