U.S. House Representative Marc Molinaro (NY-19) announced yesterday that he has introduced a bipartisan bill titled the “Think DIFFERENTLY Agriculture Accessibility Act,” a bill designated to break down barriers that farmers and farm families face with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities.

The bill will expand the US Department of Agriculture’s AgrAbility program. AgrAbility, created in 1991, provides federal funding for assistive technology and support services for farmers and farm families with disabilities.

The proposed bill will allow funding to be expanded for the program by $3 million dollars and also allow funding to be used to support and educate young adults with disabilities who are interested in farm related careers.

Rep. Molinaro said in a statement, “Farmers and farm families with disabilities face unnecessary barriers on the job and in their communities. The bipartisan Think DIFFERENTLY Agriculture Accessibility Act changes things by helping them access support services and assistive technology. This bill is going to break down barriers and empower rural Americans with disabilities to make a living.”

The bill was introduced bipartisan with U.S. Representative Yadira Caraveo (D-CO-8).
