Renovations For Basement at Homer Town Hall to Begin in September

Homer Town Supervisor Mike Park provided an update on the planned renovations for the basement of the Homer Town Hall for the Village of Homer Board of Trustees during their Tuesday meeting. The renovations would relocate the Homer Police Department to the basement of the Town Hall, add storage, and install an emergency generator in the event of power loss to the building.

Supervisor Park says the bids from the Request for Proposals have come in and the Town of Homer has budgeted up to $1.5 million dollars for the work. The bid came in at $1.128 million, but Park added with estimates and the cost of materials, the town decided to have a safety net in the event the cost ends up being more than quoted.

Supervisor Park will sign contracts for the work this week. He added he doesn’t expect much disruption to the offices located above.

Work is expected to begin in early September. The Homer Senior Center will have to move out of the basement by the end of July, Park added. It is not known where the seniors may go, but Park says this move has been in the making for at least 3 years. Construction is anticipated to be completed sometime in January 2026.
