The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is going on now until mid-April to offer free tax assistance to people who make less than $58,000 dollars or less, those with disabilities, elderly, or limited English-speaking taxpayers. The program will bring assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
The volunteers, all IRS-certified, will provide a free basic income tax return preparation assistance with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
The free tax preparation will take place at Access to Independence, 26 N Main Street in the City of Cortland. To schedule an appointment, you may call 2-1-1, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm. More information is available at CortlandFreeTaxes.org.
The program is sponsored by the Seven Valleys Health Coalition and Cortland Free Taxes.
