Reminder – Statewide Crackdown on Distracted Driving Continues Thru Monday

A statewide crackdown initiated by the New York Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC), will continue through this weekend and into Monday, April 8th. Area law enforcement will crackdown on distracted driving.

Both state and local law enforcement agencies will have an increased presence on the road looking for distracted drivers. The GTSC says distracted driving is the most common contributor towards crashes in the state.

State Police will also be conducting “Operation Hang Up,” which is a special enforcement effort that will increase patrols and checkpoints targeting drivers using electronic devices. Troopers will be in both marked and unmarked vehicles during the crackdown.
