Remember, Shop Small This Holiday Season – Shop Small Saturday Coming Up

The holiday shopping season is about to get into full swing. This Saturday, November 29th is Shop Small Saturday. It is a day that encourages shoppers to visit local businesses and shop small while also supporting local. The Cortland Area Chamber of Commerce added this day will support locally owned shops and entrepreneurs that make Cortland such a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.

“Small businesses are the heart of our local economy—from our retailers and restaurants to our service providers and specialty shops. When we shop local, we strengthen our community, support local jobs, and help our neighbors thrive.” The Chamber says.

Small Business Saturday began back in 2010 by American Express. The company created it to encourage shoppers to shop small during the great recession. X101 will be on location on Main Street in both the Village of Homer and City of Cortland with the Cortland Area Chamber of Commerce to highlight some of the great local businesses you can do your holiday shopping at.

“Small Business Saturday is a wonderful reminder of how much heart lives in Cortland,” said Debbie Thayer, Director of Events. “Our local businesses show up for this community every day, and this is our chance to show up for them. I hope everyone gets out to explore, shop, and connect with the people who make Cortland truly unique.”
