SUNY Cortland plans baseball clinic for area prospects

SUNY Cortland’s baseball team will run a prospect clinic for area high school players on Saturday, October 10, from 2-5 pm at the Gutchess Sports Complex in Cortlandville.

The event is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors (high school classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023) at a cost of $75 per person.

Pre-registration is required and open only to the first 60 players who register.

To do that, send an email to head coach Joe Brown at with the following information: Name, Age, Class Year and Position (a return email will confirm attendance).

Signups can also be done by calling 607-753-4950 and leaving a message with your name and phone number – you will be called back to complete registration.

Gutchess Sports Complex is located at 3111 Byrne Hollow Crossing in Cortlandville.

Program History

Cortland has qualified for the NCAA Division III playoffs 27 straight years from 1993-2019 – tied for the longest streak ever in Division III history and the second-longest active streak among all NCAA divisions, behind only Florida State (the streak did not end in 2020 since the season was canceled in mid-March).

The Red Dragons won the 2015 NCAA Division III World Series title and have made a total of 14 World Series showings, the most by any school since the Series adopted an eight-team format in 1991.

In addition to its national championship, Cortland was national runner-up in 2005 and 2010, finished third in 1997, 1998 and 2016, and placed fourth in 2007 and 2012.

Since 1994, Cortland has had 10 players drafted professionally and 15 others who have signed professional free agent contracts.
