Chris Spadolini, the Cortland County Recycling Center Specialist, spoke last night at the Village of Homer Board of Trustees meeting. Some common issues that he mentioned are:
- Glass is not recyclable, however the Recycling Center will accept glass if you bring it directly to their facility
- Not all plastic is recyclable
- The only plastic that is recyclable is plastic with the chasing arrow symbol with the numbers 1 or 2 inside the symbol
- Metal containers/tins are the only metal that is recyclable
- They prefer cardboard to be flattened with no packing materials still inside
