Racker of Cortland, Ithaca, and Owego is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. The organization was founded back in March of 1948 to provide services to people with disabilities and their families.
The organization was founded by families who looked for educational enrichment and social opportunities for their loved ones when a limited amount of community options existed.
Racker now serves over 3,500 people from just 18 months old to the end of life. Numerous programs are available across the region including community support, residential housing, counseling for school success, clinical services, early intervention services, childcare and three integrated preschool sites.
For the remainder of the year, Racker will hold several events to celebrate their 75th anniversary with community members in the area.
