Racker is celebrating their 75th anniversary with a party in the park tomorrow from 1 to 3pm at Stewart Park in Ithaca.
The party in the park will feature free ice cream and free carousel rides, field games including corn hold and bocce ball. Additionally, the Cayuga Wizards will perform magic tricks, free yoga sessions being held, face painting, rock painting, mobile sensory library and DIY sensory activities, a photo booth, video memory booth, playground, and more.
Racker was founded back in March of 1948 to provide services to people with disabilities and their families. The organization was founded by families who looked for educational enrichment and social opportunities for their loved ones when a limited amount of community options existed.
Racker now serves over 3,500 people from just 18 months old to the end of life. Numerous programs are available across the region including community support, residential housing, counseling for school success, clinical services, early intervention services, childcare and three integrated preschool sites.
