The 26th annual Corn Ducky Derby takes place tomorrow (May 7th) at Suggett Park. The Derby is scheduled to start at 11 am. Organized by the Cortland Community Service Club, the Derby has provided over $386,000 in funding for local youth programs in our community recently.
The Cortland Community Service Club tells us they’ve sold well over 7500 $5 tickets and expect the final number of tickets sold at more that 8600.
Community Service Club member Ray Franco on the record they’ll break:
“This would be almost 2000 tickets more than we sold last year and by far, a record for the derby. Since our club only has 7600 ducks, we actually had to borrow 1000 ducks from the Ithaca 4H club. We may very well sell out 8600 ducks this year! This is a fantastic accomplishment and will enable our club to support even more youth programs in the coming year.”
Tickets will be available tomorrow before the ducks get on their way down the creek. The first place prize is $2500, with cash prizes for the first 20 ducks! Look for more details at CornDuckyDerby.org.
