Today the Public Service Commission will meet to discuss proposed rate increases by New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG).
Both Assemblymember Anna Kelles and New York State Senator Lea Webb have voiced their opposition to the proposed rate hike increases by sending a letter urging Governor Hochul and the Public Service Commission Chair, Roy Christian, to reject the rate hikes. The letter also requested an investigation into the matter.
“We cannot reward a poor-performing company with 17% rate hikes over the next three years, with a compounding effect of a 62% overall increase. I have heard from many constituents who have experienced issues.” Kelles said in her weekly update to constituents.
Kelles continued to speak of NYSEG’s “outrageous” billing problems, poor customer service, and high level of outages.
She also noted anyone who continues to have unresolved billing or service issues to contact her office for assistance. Kelles Cortland Office may be reached at 607-208-2024 and her Ithaca Office is 607-277-8030.
