Tomorrow, at 6pm at the Cortland Elks Lodges located at 9 Groton Ave. in the City of Cortland, will be a public information session regarding the planned construction work within the City of Cortland along with the expected impacts, detour routes, and alternative plans.

The session is being hosted by the City of Cortland, SUNY Cortland, The Cortland County Business Development Corporation and the Cortland County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Projects slated to begin this year include the finishing of Main Street work, Groton Ave. reconstruction, reconstruction of the intersection of Broadway, Pashley, and Neubig Road, and the rebuilding of the Groton Ave. public parking lot.

For Main Street this year, work will continue on the major project with construction crews replacing all sidewalks and curbing on both sides of the street. Work will also include repairing additional utility vaults, converting the street to two-way, and installing new street lighting and traffic control lighting.

Groton Ave. work will resume with replacement of water mains below the surface and the storm sewer system. Crews will also replace sanitary sewer lines. Work will include new sidewalks and curbing.

One of the busiest parking lots in Downtown Cortland will also be reconstructed. Work is part of the overall Groton Ave. improvement. The City says work will allow for more parking in the lots than what is currently available.

SUNY Cortland and the City of Cortland are collaborating on the redevelopment of the intersection at Broadway Ave, Pashley Dr, and Neubig Road at the bottom of the hill of the Cortland Campus. Details currently on the project are limited, but the intersection is planned for be closed for a period this summer. Work will not begin until after students leave for summer break.

The meeting will include representatives from the City of Cortland Public Works Department, who will provide information on upcoming water line replacement projects and tentative road work plans.
