Public Hearing Tonight Regarding Reduced Speed Limit on Main and Miller Street in City of Cortland

Before the start of tonight’s Common Council meeting, the public will have an opportunity to share their opinions regarding a proposed local law reducing the speed limit on both Miller Street and a portion of Main Street in the City of Cortland from 30 mph to 25 mph.

The proposed new speed limit would be between Groton/Clinton Ave. to Port Watson/Tompkins Street for Main Street and N. Main Street to Morris Ave for Miller Street. The reasoning for the reduction is to increase safety in those areas.

Main Street is expected to become once again a two-way street, with vehicles then being required to reverse into parking spaces along Main Street. On Miller Street, the reduction is for the expected increase in traffic to the future opening of the Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services Methadone treatment facility on Euclid Ave.

Tonight’s public hearing will take place at 6pm at City Hall on Court Street in the City of Cortland. The meeting will also be available via Zoom. That link may be found HERE.
