Public Hearing Date Set For Proposed 3-Way Stop at Hooker Ave. & Sunset Dr. in Village of Homer

A public hearing date has been set by the Village of Homer Board of Trustees during last night’s meeting. The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at 6pm at the Homer Town Hall regarding the proposed 3-way stop at the intersection of Hooker Ave. and Sunset Drive in the village.

The process to install a 3-way stop kicked off when the village sent out a questionnaire back in March of 2023. Questions included if the resident felt the need for a stop sign, and any concerns. Reasoning for a stop sign in the area is primarily a safety issue. Homer Police Pitman has told the Trustees in the past that the area does not have sidewalks with pedestrians walking on the side of the street. Residents have also expressed concern on vehicles speeding on Hooker Ave.

In total, the village received 25 responses during their questionnaire last year with 16 of them in favor and 9 against.
